Day 1: Arrival in Leh

Leh Altitude: 3,500 m

Touch down in Leh, where adventure awaits at 11,500 ft! Our team will be at the airport, ready to take you to your hotel (For group arrivals). After check-in, take a day to acclimatize—hydrate with 3.5 liters of water, and keep movement to a minimum as you rest up. Come evening, we’ll gather for a briefing, followed by a hearty dinner. Tonight, stay in Leh City as you gear up for the journey.

Precautions: Avoid alcohol and smoking today, no exploration—stay in and relax.

Report any signs of AMS (Nausea, headache, vomiting) to the team.

Leh Altitude: 3,500 m Nubra Altitude: 3,160 m

Today, we scale heights that redefine altitude! Prepare for a thrilling ascent to the legendary Khardung La, one of the world’s highest motorable passes. The ride climbs an astonishing 6,500 ft, just 40 km from Leh. With the valley receding behind us, feel the power of the road dim at 18,000 ft, where only half the oxygen awaits. Stop briefly for photos, capturing the panorama of this high-altitude realm. As we descend, the landscapes shift with the Shyok River guiding us to the breathtaking Nubra Valley. We will visit the Diskit Monastery, where the towering 108 ft Maitreya Buddha watches over the valley. By evening, explore Nubra’s dunes and glimpse the rare double-humped Bactrian camels. Overnight in Nubra Valley.

Day_2

Nubra Altitude: 3,160 m

After yesterday’s altitude, today we push farther to Turtuk, India’s northernmost village, rich in Baltis culture. We’ll journey into this once Pakistan-administered region, reclaimed by India in 1971. At Turtuk, glimpse into history as we stand a mere 2 km from the Indo-Pak border and catch a peek of POK through binoculars. Return to Nubra for an evening by the dunes, basking in the stillness of this majestic valley. Overnight by Pangong Lake.

Day_3

Nubra Altitude: 3,160M Pangong Altitude: 4,225 m

Today, brace yourself! We journey through two of the mightiest mountain ranges—the Himalayas and the Karakoram. Following breakfast, we’ll embark on a narrow mountain road alongside the “River of Death,” Shyok. The off-roading begins as we cross rugged trails, shifting sands, and broken pathways that keep us fully engaged. Streams from glacial melt add an extra layer of thrill, while the sights unfold in unparalleled beauty. Ride along the enchanting shores of Pangong Lake, where you’ll soak in its mystical charm. Tonight, settle into camp by the lake’s brackish waters.

Day_4

Pangong Altitude: 4,225 M Hanle Altitude: 4,500 m

This will be one of the most thrilling days on the ride. The journey is remote, with few stops, but the untamed Changthang Plateau makes it worth every mile. Riding alongside Pangong’s mesmerizing coast, we’ll reach its last point in India before heading to Chusul. Beyond this, dirt trails carve our path through Rezang La and up to Tsaga La Pass, where loose stones and sand keep us on edge. Follow closely as we navigate the unique landscapes leading to Hanle, a scenic gem. Tonight, stay in a cozy homestay with local warmth.

Day_5

Umlinga La Altitude: 5,799 m Hanle Altitude: 4,300 m

Today, we take on the grand challenge: reaching the top of Umling La, the highest motorable pass on Earth. Get ready to ride into the heights of adventure! As we set out, we’ll pass through vast valleys where the occasional sighting of rare wildlife like Himalayan Marmots, Kiangs, or even the Black-necked Crane adds to the magic. Beyond the gentle dirt trails that lead us out of Hanle, the road quickly turns into a winding climb, coated with fine sands and sharp switchbacks.
Our route, via the daunting Nurbu La, guides us up steep, unpaved slopes that demand your full focus. The thrill peaks as we reach Nurbu La’s summit and find ourselves riding along a beautifully tarred road, gradually approaching Umling La. The ride to this altitude pushes your bike and stamina, but the reward? A feeling like no other. Capture the moment at the top, knowing you’ve conquered the world’s highest pass. Before heading back, treat yourself to tea at the aptly named “Oxygen Cafe” – a unique experience at the top of the world. Overnight back in the warmth of Hanle, reflecting on the heights scaled today.

Day_6

Hanle Alt. – 4300 m Leh Alt. – 3500 m

Our final ride through the Chumathang region promises unforgettable views and memories. We’ll ride along the hypnotizing single-lane road, skirting barren plains and crossing the winding Indus River at Loma, where photo stops are a must. If we’re lucky, we may spot a herd of Kiang grazing nearby, adding to the otherworldly beauty of this remote landscape.

Continuing along the mighty Indus, we’ll break at an army café near Loma for a treat you won’t forget—freshly made samosas, courtesy of the Indian Army. From here, the road broadens into a two-lane highway as we ride back towards Leh, moving through the stunning landscapes and soothing vistas until we reach the town by evening. Spend the night celebrating the journey and the camaraderie forged on the road.

Key Consideration

Flight
Mountain Riders will assist you in selecting flights, the flights cost will be the traveler’s responsibility.

Insurance
The traveller is responsible to select the right insurance for this tour carefully. He/she needs to ensure that they add Adventure Pack cover and ride a motorcycle of more than 250 cc capacity in their policy.

Licence
You will need an international driving license which you can obtain from your local authorities. For e.g. Service NSW, Service Transport QLD etc.
